Registration for Fall 2010 is just around the corner and some of you may have difficulty adding or dropping classes due to holds on your student account. There are a number of different types of registration holds and not all of them come from the Office of Student Financial Services. In an effort to make this spring's registration run more smoothly we want each of you to understand your account and what may be preventing you from signing up for classes on time.
Registration Holds from Financial Services:
1) Past Due Account Balance: If you have an outstanding bill on your account, you will be placed on hold until it is paid in full. To avoid this hold and a late fee, please be sure to make your payment on or before the deadline. Keep in mind that wire transfers can take up to one week to reach our office, so if you send your wire a few days before the bill due date, you will likely still be placed on hold until we receive the payment.
2) Monthly Payment Plan Past Due: If you are enrolled in a payment plan but have not made your monthly payment, you will be placed on hold until we receive notification from Tuition Management Systems that you have made the payment.
3) No Entrance Counseling: If you are receiving student loans you must complete Entrance Counseling at the beginning of the first semester in which you receive those funds. You will also need to sign a promissory note for your loans. For federal loans, you will only need complete these steps once during your time at Brandeis. For other loans, you may have to complete them once per year.
4) No Exit Interview: Whenever a student with loans separates from or leaves the university, they must complete exit counseling. If you are returning to Brandeis after a leave of absence, you may be on hold if you did not complete exit counseling when you withdrew. Though you'll be back at Brandeis, you may still have to get the exit counseling out of the way in order to remove this hold, so stop by our office if you see this message on SAGE.
If you do have a Hold on your account for a reason other than Financial, please contact that individual department to see whats steps are require to have the hold lifted.
