As a college student you have hopefully become a master at stretching the 'ole dollar, so if given $10 how long could you make it last? What does $10 even get you when the economy is weak and gasoline is so expensive? If you suddenly found $10 on the street or in a coat pocket you would be ecstatic right? So, to begin with $10 can buy a bit of happiness- yes?

For instance, did you know that the average life of a $10 bill in circulation is 18 months before it needs to be replaced from wear and tear? Or, that Alexandra Hamilton, U.S. Secretary of the Treasury is only one of two non-presidents to be featured on currently issued U.S. bills. The other one is Benjamin Franklin whose face appears on the $100 bill.

Portraits on the $10 bill changed multiple times since it was first issued in 1861. Those having been featured on the bill include President Lincoln, Andrew Jackson and Lewis and Clarke, just to name a few.

In 1869 the $10 bill became known as the "jackass note" because it featured an eagle that when turned upside down looked like a donkey. This same note also included a representation of Pocahontas being presented to the Royal Court of England.

Visit the Brandeis bookstore and you will find several branded items for under $10. Brandeis memorabilia runs the gamut from coffee mugs to key chains and pennants to socks.

So, if you find yourself short on cash, but can scrape together $10 think of all the fun things you can do.
