The Royal Baby is Causing a Royal Flush of Cash

With the success of our past blog post about William and Kate's Royal Wedding, it seems that Savvy Student has an obligation to bring you some of the financial facts about the latest step in their relationship: the royal baby!

You may be asking yourself what possible connection there could be between money and this blissful newborn. Well, according to CNN Money, Will and Kate will spend at least $1 million on schooling, child care and other costs to raise the Royal Prince from birth to adulthood. That is compared to $368,000, the amount that parents in London typically pay to raise a child from birth to age 21. And, to put those numbers in perspective at Brandeis, that would be the equivalent of sending just over 16 students to Brandeis this year while covering their full cost of attendance.

And, since we are talking money, British Bookmakers reported over 1 million British Pounds in bets were placed on such things as the baby's gender, name, and date of birth. A majority bet on the birth of a baby girl named Alexandra. Now, followers are awaiting word of the Royal Prince's name. Taking the lead are Alexander, George and James. Sources say the Royal camp will release his name in about 10 days.

Until the official announcement of the name is made, Savvy Student will just be referring to this bundle of royalty as His Royal Highness "Bank-Breaker," Prince of Cambridge.

Stay royal!
