Gluten-free baking, a journey into new territory by Chris Rawstern

Gluten-free foods take their place in the world these days. We are all increasingly gluten aware of, gluten intolerance, celiac disease (or celiac) disease and what this means for so many people. While I'm not gluten intolerant, which I often cook and baking for local functions. Last year I was asked too little for a princess party, put treats on the Dacotah Prairie Museum. Accompanied by a Queen, girls of Tots were invited to young people to learn about the lives of real princesses. They learned how to correctly wave and Knicks.

Little girls hear the word of Princess and dreamy eyes to go. The program was sold out. I have many small treats, but found out that one of the little princesses and their Queen were intolerant to gluten and could not take part, many small treats. This was an intolerable state. Decided I needed about this disease learn consciously what was involved and offer alternatives that would be tasty and exciting.

In the past year I have been different gluten-free flour mixes try out, and a lot of goodies, mainly from my normal recipes make converts, by replacing easy gluten-free flour and xanthan gum. In essence, they have whopping successfully. In my honest opinion, as someone who for 42 years, were some of the cake, baking fruit or nut out breads more moist and tender, as when one with wheat flour, a very lucky find, without a doubt. The Queen, who is mentioned above at the Museum, so I took an afternoon this young woman talk and find out what was involved. I had one of my favorite Coffeecake baked recipes, gluten-free and took to try it for them and the staff of the Museum. They all loved it, moist and soft and full of flavor. The young woman was happy with my experiment, I like.

Another big help on the way was Shauna Ahern gluten free girl Web page will find. I have extensively studied your website and learned all sorts of things are. I messed up their gluten-free flour blend to experiment, as well as your bread recipe try one; another success. I took some of the bread for the woman in the Museum, for example, as well as a disc that I started with homemade pesto and cheese and grilled. She cried out: this is the best bread, what I ate, since going gluten-free.

This Coffeecake recipe from my best friend from 54 years I was given, and is a great recipe, no matter which, the flour you choose. This is the original recipe for gluten-free, I a gluten-free flour mix, consisting of 6 cups brown rice flour, 2 cups potato starch and 1 cup tapioca starch replaced. I used this mixture measure for the measure in this recipe and 1 TEASPOON xanthan gum, the sifted dry ingredients added. Make sure that the labels of the ingredients for hidden wheat to check if this make gluten free.

Gluten-free OPTION: Replace the flour with your favorite gluten-free flour mixture and add in 1 tsp xanthan gum. Mix it and bake as directed. Sometimes baking is a bit longer than normal, but since the texture and Moistness of the skin is so wonderful, I can't wait for a few minutes.
